Stephanie Miller-Henderson is an author, business owner, ministry leader, educator, and counselor with a strong desire to introduce young people to God’s love.
To this end, Miller-Henderson has written three Christian Juvenile Nonfiction books centered around three young men in the Bible. These include David: From Keeping Sheep to Being King; Joash: The Child King; and Timothy: A Young Disciple.
What inspired you to write these books?
“I wrote these books to empower and encourage the generation from 8 to beyond 18 years of age. It is a poetic charge to let them know that even at a young age they too are called, chosen, and have a purpose greater than one can imagine. Parents can rest assured knowing that this series and those that will follow promote biblical knowledge as well as academic achievement by way of exposure to text parts, vocabulary, text dependent questions and questions that promote critical thinking.”
What personal life experiences did you pull from as you wrote them?
“I pulled from my childhood love of reading, especially in the library and the sporadic moments that I attended church with my neighbor. I was always wondering where I fit as a young person and as a young adult.”
How did writing these books impact you?
“The completion of this series has shown me how God brings situations in full circle in our lives. I began to reflect on a young author’s contest that I won in elementary school, the poetry I wrote and recited during my undergrad years to authoring a poetic style book series during a global pandemic.”
What are some of the key points woven throughout the books?
Some of the key points are that God is not a respecter of persons, He can use anyone to ensure that His will goes forth. In addition to this, God counts in the one that society typically counts out! So, there is definitely a theme of youth empowerment.”
What do you hope readers come away with after reading your books?
I hope the children and adolescents who read these books are ignited to stand in the mist of difficult times knowing that God has a divine purpose, whether you are 7 or 77.

The Young Yet Chosen series, in its poetic fashion, aims to remind youth that God is not a respecter of persons and that even as a toddler, an adolescent or a teenager He has a perfectly dynamic plan for their life. Timothy was encouraged to not let anyone look down on him because he was a young person but to be an example for other believers. This book will spark that drive for all young disciples to be the example!!
